Welcome to Rummy!

Rummy is one of the most popular card games in the world. It's a skill-based game that combines strategy, memory, and quick thinking. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to improve your game, this guide will teach you everything you need to know.

Rummy Basics

🎯 Objective

Form valid sequences and sets using the 13 cards dealt to you. The first player to arrange all cards in valid combinations wins the game.

👥 Players

Rummy can be played with 2-6 players. Each player gets 13 cards, except in 2-player games where each gets 10 cards.

🃏 Deck

Standard 52-card deck is used. In games with more players, two decks may be used along with jokers.

🎲 Jokers

Jokers can substitute any card to complete sequences and sets. There are printed jokers and wild card jokers.

Understanding Sequences & Sets

🔥 Pure Sequence (Mandatory)

A sequence of 3 or more consecutive cards of the same suit without any joker.

Examples:

  • 4♠ 5♠ 6♠ (Pure sequence of Spades)
  • J♥ Q♥ K♥ (Pure sequence of Hearts)
  • A♣ 2♣ 3♣ 4♣ (Pure sequence of Clubs)

🃏 Impure Sequence

A sequence where one or more cards are replaced by jokers.

Examples:

  • 4♠ 5♠ Joker (6♠ replaced by joker)
  • J♥ Joker K♥ (Q♥ replaced by joker)
  • A♣ Joker 3♣ (2♣ replaced by joker)

🎯 Sets

3 or 4 cards of the same rank but different suits. Jokers can be used.

Examples:

  • 7♠ 7♥ 7♣ (Set of 7s)
  • K♠ K♥ K♦ K♣ (Set of Kings)
  • A♠ A♥ Joker (Set of Aces with joker)

How to Play - Step by Step

1

Deal Cards

Each player receives 13 cards. One card is placed face-up to start the discard pile, and the remaining cards form the stock pile.

2

Arrange Your Cards

Sort your cards by suit and rank. Look for potential sequences and sets. Remember, you need at least one pure sequence to win.

3

Draw a Card

On your turn, pick a card either from the stock pile (face-down) or from the discard pile (face-up).

4

Discard a Card

After drawing, discard one card face-up to the discard pile. Choose wisely - don't give opponents useful cards!

5

Declare When Ready

When you have valid sequences and sets with all 13 cards, declare your hand. You must have at least one pure sequence!

  • At least 1 Pure Sequence (mandatory)
